Chicago rapper G Herbo, formerly known as Lil Herb, has made some big changes in his career.
After changing his name, the "I'm Rollin'" emcee signed with Cinematic Music Group, who has put out material for Mick Jenkins, Big K.R.I.T. and Joey Bada$$. Cinematic founder Jonny Snipes spoke to XXL about what made him want to sign Herbo, "I think with Herb, I feel like I'm walking the streets of Chicago with him when I listen to him. Aside from him being a really dope rapper, storyteller and vivid painter, the youth f***s with him super hard."
He added, "I have been in talks with Machine Entertainment and basically we just kept talking. I went down to Chicago, I had Herb at SXSW at the Smokers Clubhouse and it just made sense. We kind of like worked a little bit on a trial period, trying to get it together and now it's finalized and I'm excited. I think we're going to do some special s*** with him."
Herb is set to release his highly anticipated mixtape Ballin Like I'm Kobe soon, and the Chicago spitter will follow up in 2016 with his yet to be named debut album. He recently dropped the first single off his upcoming mixtape, "No Limit," which you can check out in the above slide along with the Ballin Like I'm Kobe cover art.
