NEW ALBUM: Lucky Seven - '53CREE: BAD LUCK'

Following up on his 2015 mixtape series Bar Wars (which received placements with Don Diva Magazine, Global Grind, Jack Thriller, DJ Envy & ItzBizkit), seasoned Buffalo emcee Lucky Seven is back! Building off of the viral success of “Temple,” a single he produced for acclaimed Griselda Records emcee Conway The Machine which will appear in Eminem’s new film, Bodied, Lucky has crafted a new album titled 53CREE: BAD LUCK. Lucky Seven takes on the roles of rapper and producer for the 12-track project which features guest appearances by buzzing Griselda artists Conway, Benny The Butcher and ELCAMINO, as well as other local Buffalo acts Billie Essco, Young Squire, Mitch Arizona and Braden Blair. Multi-platinum selling producer Droyd also added his touch on multiple tracks.

This new album comes from a dark point in Lucky Seven’s life and career. Three years ago, his life was no crystal stair. He fell into a deep depression due to personal hardships. Lucky was ready to give up on his rap dreams when he felt that he lost control of his creative process, because of unreliable producers and the burden of paying for studio time. However, Lucky turned that despair into productivity by purchasing his own equipment. Inspired by hip-hop heavyweights like Kanye West and Madlib, he taught himself how to produce and engineer, then went on to open his own studio which became a sanctuary for Buffalo acts like Conway, Westside Gunn, ELCAMINO and Billie Essco. The depression still lingered, but Lucky was determined to create some music that would really showcase his talents in the booth and on the boards. He went on to summon the energy encompassed in Kanye’s classic line, “5 beats a day for 3 summers, that’s a different world like Cree Summer,” and birthed 53CREE: BAD LUCK.

The central theme of the album is one of depression and reclusiveness, feelings which can surely resonate with listeners in hip-hop’s current climate. From Kanye West to Kid Cudi to the late XXXtentacion, mental health is a topic that is gaining steam in rappers’ bars and fans dealing with similar issues find solace in those lyrics. In 53CREE: BAD LUCK, Lucky Seven will take listeners to desolate places with some tracks and offer resilient hope with others. As a self-taught hip-hop prodigy, Lucky Seven delivers his message in a coherent sonic arrangement which is sure to appeal to true hip-hop heads and fans of the new school alike. The album is available on all major streaming platforms (iTunes, Apple Music, Spotify, Tidal, etc.). Grab a copy for yourself at luckyseven30.com.
